In 1998 a Veterans’ Memorial Committee was formed and shortly after the Lakeside Veterans Memorial was created to permanently honor those from Libertyville who were killed in action or training. Only some are buried at Lakeside, dating back to 1864.
On the Saturday of Memorial Day weekend the Libertyville American Legion has been honoring Lakeside Veterans by placing a flag at their grave, and for the past fifteen years they have been assisted by Libertyville area Scouts and other youth service groups. These photos are from 2019 and 2018.
